Holy Week Services
The Randolph County Ministerial Association Holy Week services will be held at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19 at noon. A luncheon will follow each day hosted by the Church Women United. A $4 donation is suggested for your meal or give what you are able. All contributions go toward supporting local community agencies and organizations.
Maundy Thursday Service
A Maundy Thursday Service will be held at First United Methodist Church on April 18 at 7 p.m.
Join us Sunday, April 28 during the 11 a.m. worship service as we celebrate our 2019 Confirmation Class! Following the receiving of our newest church members, the United Methodist Women will be hosting a light reception in the Family Life Center for the entire congregation to attend and congratulate our students.
After Prom Party Lock-in
On Saturday, May 4, our church will once again host an After Prom Party Lock-In for Elkins High School students. We are in the midst of working with the school and local businesses and organizations to make this event safe and successful. Monetary donations are always appreciated and will be used to purchase door prizes, rent games and provide food. Thank you for your continued support of this worthwhile program.
Save the date! The United Methodist Men will host a church picnic on Sunday, June 2, at the Elkins City Park. Come join us for an afternoon of fellowship, BBQ chicken, and other great food.
Vacation Bible School
Cokesbury’s “To Mars and Beyond: Explore Where God’s Power Can Take You!” with science, crafts, Bible stories, singing, dancing and more will take place Sunday, July 21 - Thursday, July 25. Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the VBS program will be from 6-8 p.m. All children who have completed pre-K through fifth grade are welcome. An adult class and mission team will also be offered this year. If you would like more information or want to know how you can volunteer to help with VBS, please contact Kary McAtee.
DivorceCare began Thursday, March 7. The weekly class is held on Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. in March, April and May. DivorceCare is a weekly seminar and support group that will help you heal from the hurt. It's a warm, caring environment led by people who understand what you're going through. You'll learn practical information that will help you deal with the challenges of divorce. Best of all, you will gain hope for the future. Foundations Adult Sunday School Class
The Foundations Adult Sunday school class will began a new study, The Harmony of the Gospels, on March 17. This is a side by side study of the four gospels that addresses why we have four gospels, what can we learn from each, and other puzzling questions for today’s Bible reader. The class meets at 10 a.m. each Sunday in the parlor.
Backpack Food Program
When school is in session we meet to pack backpacks on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. on the stage in the Family Life Center. We are collecting new backpacks and food items to include: granola bars, individual packets of oatmeal, canned meals, fruit cups, veggie cups, snack cracker packs and pudding cups. Please drop off your items in the bin marked “BACKPACK PROGRAM” by the Church office. Monetary, school supplies and food donations are always appreciated.
The Bible Study groups meet every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the parlor. Everyone is welcome. For more information, please call the church office at 304-636-0660.
All men are welcome to the Men's Breakfast every Thursday at 6:30 a.m. at McDonald's for faith, food and fellowship.
We Care Ministries
FUMC’s We Care ministry is an outreach program for senior citizens in our community. If you have any Thinking of You cards that you would like to donate, please bring them to the Church office for the We Care Group.
